The Fresh Food Agro-Hub in Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos State, recorded transactions worth N2.495 billion, from 348 vendors, in its first year of operation.

The hub was also visited by 75,000 people who took part in trading during the 81 days it was open for commercial

The hub, established last year on a 6,400Sqm land, provides a structured, organised marketplace aimed at reducing the reliance of farmers on middlemen.

Speaking at the one-year anniversary, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, described the initiative as part of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s broader efforts at revolutionizing food logistics and distribution in Lagos State.

She said: “The Mushin Fresh Food Agro-Hub is more than just a market; it is a catalyst for change in the way we manage food distribution in Lagos. By providing farmers and traders with a reliable platform to sell their produce, we are ensuring fair pricing, reducing post-harvest losses, and creating a more efficient supply chain that benefits everyone, from producers to consumers.”

Ms. Olusanya also highlighted ongoing projects under the Sanwo-Olu administration, including the Logistics Hub in Epe and other Fresh Food Agro-Hubs in strategic locations across the state.

“These projects aim to streamline food supply chains, enhance food security, and create economic opportunities for Lagos’ growing population. As a catalyst for socio-economic growth, since its inception, the Mushin Fresh Food Agro-Hub has emerged as a transformative force in the community. By providing farmers and traders with a transparent, well-organised market.

“The hub has boosted the livelihoods of vendors and market women; improved food accessibility for Lagosians through fair and affordable pricing, created job opportunities and contributed to the economic growth of the community.

“Its impact extends beyond the Mushin area, driving Lagos State’s economic development by bridging the gap between rural producers and urban consumers.

“The Fresh Food Agro-Hub is proof that innovative, community-focused initiatives can reshape economies, improve livelihoods, and create a more secure and prosperous future for everyone involved,” she added.
