LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT REFUNDS 145 FORMER SUBSCRIBERS OF EGAN HOUSING ESTATE
Boosting community policing, especially during the Yuletide, will require the active involvement of local security groups, leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Mr. Olubisi Sodiq, has said.
Sodiq, at a news conference in Lagos, said this was necessary to secure lives and property at the grassroots. He described community policing as a collective responsibility of all well-meaning citizens.
The OPC leader also lauded the Lagos State government for its continuous investment in modern security gadgets, but urged it to involve OPC members in its security agenda for the state.
He called on governments at all levels to do more in addressing the rising cost of food items and living to reduce youth restiveness and crime in the country.
State Women Leader Mrs. Suliat Thompson, who described the founder, the late Dr Frederick Faseun as a leader who was committed to the general welfare of his followers, also identified abject poverty in the country as one of the major factors responsible for a rise in crime.
Mrs. Thompson urged all levels of government to initiate policies that will create sustainable job opportunities at the grassroots to enable Nigerians, especially youths, contribute their quota towards nation-building.
