Anambra man injures wife with pestle

A middle-aged man from Obosi, Anambra State, has allegedly hit his wife, Chizoba, with a pestle over a minor misunderstanding.

The incident, which reportedly happened at the Asaba, Delta State house, escalated after the suspect abandoned the victim at her parent’s house in Onitsha for delaying him without remorse.

According to the victim, “it started as a threat, before he dashed to the kitchen, brought the pestle and hit my leg. This is not the first time he has raised his hands on me.”

The suspect, who was invited for a peaceful mediation at the office of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, was said to have declined and instead threatened his wife and the Social Welfare Officer for inviting him.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ify Obinabo, promised to get justice for the victim.
