Foundation lifts indigent families, pupils in Ekiti

No fewer than 800 residents of Ogbon Tutun and Oke Ikere in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, at the weekend received free medical services, food palliatives and cash gifts by the Tunmise Ayodele Foundation.

The foundation also gave 500 pupils of the African Church Comprehensive High School free textbooks as well as free National Examination Council (NECO) and Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms.

Convener of the Foundation Dr. Tunmise Ayodele said the outreach was his way of giving back to the community. He noted that the foundation was established to assist vulnerable people, saying the government should not be left alone in the provision of welfare packages.

He said: “This is our debut outreach in this community. I grew up with a mother who is a giver. Though she didn’t have much, she was fond of giving to the poor and especially paying the school fees of indigent pupils. As a small child, I started doing the same, giving out our foodstuffs to friends who didn’t have enough. This I intend to do for the rest of my life.

“There is food and financial crisis in the country, we all need to show kindness, to reach out and comfort the sick, and give a helping hand to the weak.”

Principal of African Church Comprehensive High School, Mrs. Viavo Atomeji, said Ayodele has demonstrated his commitment to improving the standard of his Alma Mater.

Community leaders, Pa Olowoyo Familusi, Joseph innocent and Favour Adu expressed their desire to partner the foundation in the future to expand the outreach to more members of the community.

One of the beneficiaries of the free medical service, Florence Olayemi, appreciated the gesture, and urged the foundation to extend it to other communities in the state.
