Chairman of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Sanyaolu Olowoopejo, has opened the 1.5km Pipeline Road opposite the Area M police station.
The road connects Idimu to the OPC junction, linking it to Ejigbo LCDA.
Olowoopejo praised the Vice Chairman Mutiu Adebiyi, management team, residents, and party executives for their efforts in making the project a reality.
“This wouldn’t have been achievable without your relentless efforts and sacrifices,” he said.
The N550 million project was single-handedly executed with funds allocated to the LCDA.
The chairman urged residents to take responsibility for maintaining the road to ensure its effective functionality.
Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Ayodele Ejalonibu, lauded the council boss for completing the road, which he said aligns with the state government’s THEMES Plus agenda of providing good road networks.
“We want to thank Mr. Chairman because this is one of the dividends of democracy. This is what Mr. Governor has been preaching that we should get down to the grassroots,” he noted.
Ejalonibu emphasised the importance of maintaining the road, urging residents to take ownership and prevent damage to the infrastructure.
The Egbe-Idimu Council of Chiefs also praised Olowoopejo for his efforts in achieving the feat. According to them, the road had been in a state of disrepair for years due to pressure from heavy-laden trucks and financial constraints.
As a mark of appreciation, the title of ‘Aare Alaseyori Alaseyege of Egbe-Idimu land’ was conferred on Olowoopejo, and the road was renamed ‘Hon. Olowoopejo Avenue’.
The Baale of Paiko community, Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Waid Ewenla, appreciated the council chairman for making the road passable and conducive for residents. He prayed for a smooth administration as Olowoopejo prepares to leave office in July.
Ewenla noted that the title conferred on Olowoopejo was well-deserved, considering his achievement in completing the road within a short period.
Other dignitaries at the event were Apex Leader, Alimosho Constituency, Alhaji Abdullah Enilolobu; Chairman, Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Lasisi Akinsanya; and other stakeholders.
