The Pa. Philip Akintoye Development Foundation (PAPADEF) has empowered 25 widows with N10,000 cash each.

Chairman of the Foundation Kehinde Akintoye said the annual empowerment of widows aligns perfectly with the foundation’s core mandate of providing support to the less privileged in the society.

“By empowering widows, we are addressing the vulnerabilities they face and promoting their socioeconomic well-being, which is at the head of our foundation goals. Our foundation is built on the philanthropic legacy of the late Pa Philip Akintoye, who was known for his kindness and generosity. “Through this initiative, we demonstrate our commitment to caring for the most vulnerable members of our society,” he said.

Akintoye explained that the selection process for the beneficiaries was rigorous and transparent, with a focus on identifying those who are most in need.

“The selection process for beneficiaries was transparent, we worked with the church leaders and some of the community members to identify widows who needed support. Then we conducted a needs assessment to determine the level of support they require. Our selection criteria prioritised those who are most vulnerable, including those with disabled, chronic illness, and dependent children,” he added.

Presiding Pastor of Acts Baptist Church, Ogudu, where the event held, Rev. Remi Adejuma, hailed the foundations’ efforts in enhancing the well-being of widows.

He said: “I am impressed by the Pa Philip Akintoye Development Foundation’s commitment to supporting our widows. Their selfless efforts are a testament to the power of compassion and kindness, may their generosity inspire us all to reach out to those in need, and may God continue to bless their endeavours.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Funmilayo Oyedele, thanked the foundation, saying “I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, this gift will go a long way in supporting my family. I pray that God will continue to bless the foundation and its donors.”
