ALARHOSPS donates 18 toilets to Lagos school

Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) has donated 18 toilets to Ebute Elefun Senior Secondary School, Sura, Lagos State.

The ALARHOSPS President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora said the renovation and donation of the facility was a realisation the group’s vision to celebrate its annual week.

According to him, it was also part of the group’s effort to give back to the society.

He said: “This year’s project is meant for the Lagos division of the state. We were able to renovate 18 toilets for staff and pupils. The toilets were in a bad state, unhygienic, no water and smelly, and so it was easy for the pupils to pick up diseases from the toilet.

“So the association thought to intervene because the government alone cannot do it. What is important is for the school management to manage it well.

“If maintained properly, the toilet can serve the school for another 20 years.”

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary School Education, Tolani Alli-Balogun described the gesture as humanitarian service.

“I really appreciate ALARHOSPS, being retired but not tired, and with the little money they earn, still giving back to the society. They have not just done this, they have been intervening in other areas as well.

“I believe they still have much to be done. Education globally is about partnership and collaborative efforts because the government cannot do it alone. I want to appreciate them and I wish the school will be able to maintain this facility from their subvention.

“ALARHOSPS has served Lagos diligently, and they have been recognised by the government. I will ask them to keep it up and there is a reward for them here on earth and in the hereafter.”

National President of Old Students Association of Ebute-Elefun Senior Secondary School, Wale Salawe, said the facilities will bring respite to the pupils and teachers alike.

“We are happy that our school was chosen as a beneficiary of this great initiative. We are very happy and grateful. You have served as a role model to the pupils and we the old students, and we will continue to understudy you and emulate your style of leadership.”
