10,000 Alimosho residents enjoy free healthcare

The Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State has provided free healthcare for about 10,000 residents. The outreach covered tests and treatment of blood pressure, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, blood and sugar levels.

Embattled council chairman Jelili Sulaimon said the programme is part of his electoral promises to the people. He noted that his administration has built many health centres towards achieving the vision and mission of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in ensuring that healthcare reaches all the wards in the local government.

He said: “I can say we have primary healthcare centers in five of the seven wards in the council and they all run properly. There is the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Primary Healthcare Centre on Akowonjo Road; Ipile Rere Family Healthcare Centre at Akinremi area, and Ologufe Healthcare Centre, built by my humble self. We also have one in Orisunbare and we have another one in Shasha.

“All these are parts of our agenda, which is getting closer to the electorate. Today’s programme centres around diabetes, hypertension, HIV/AIDS. We will ensure that it is continuous. Today, about 10,000 residents will get free consultation treatment.

“It is part of our agenda and that of the party. I want to advise the people to take proper care of their health.”

The chairman also thanked President Bola Tinubu for ensuring local government autonomy, saying the move will help local council develop at their own pace.

A beneficiary and Chairman of the Alimosho Community Development Committee (CDC), Ven. Adeoye Adetunji, thanked Sulaimon for the gesture, saying ‘We love him because he is doing well. We should take care of our health and check our status regularly.”

Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji AbdulRahman Faleye, said Sulaimon has been doing such programme before, which is why the people still want him.

“Hon. Jelili Sulaimon is a worthy chairman and we support him for what he has been doing. He has done several empowerment and healthcare programmes. He is the only chairman that distributed palliatives for people last year. We will continue to give him maximum support. He is a man of the people. The people voted for him and they stand by him,” he said.
