LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT REFUNDS 145 FORMER SUBSCRIBERS OF EGAN HOUSING ESTATE
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF) Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan has been awarded an Honourary Fellowship by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The award recognises Dr. Yemi-Esan’s commitment to restructuring the Civil Service into a world-class institution.
It was conferred during a public lecture commemorating the 2024 World Public Relations Day in Abuja. The event’s theme, ‘The Future of Public Relations in a Changing World: Journey in the Nigerian Federal Civil Service’, highlighted the significant advancements in the service under Dr. Yemi-Esan’s leadership.
It was presented by NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku.
The HoSF thanked the NIPR President and Council Members, saying the civil service is a progress in inclusivity, reforms, and digital transformation.
She congratulated NIPR on its diamond jubilee, acknowledging its role in regulating and building the capacity of public relations practitioners in Nigeria.
Dr. Yemi-Esan also emphasised the importance of effective storytelling in public relations, saying ‘if you don’t tell your story, someone else will’. She highlighted the critical role of public relations in corporate governance and called for maintaining high ethical standards in the profession.
Dedicating her award to God and the hardworking civil servants, Dr. Yemi-Esan stressed that the notable strides in the civil service were a collective effort. She urged the NIPR to continue partnering with the service to drive transformation.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Capital Market Senator Osita Izunaso praised Dr. Yemi-Esan for the cadrerization of public relations in the civil service. He mentioned ongoing efforts to amend the NIPR’s charter to reflect global best practices, while Dr. Neliaku acknowledged Dr. Yemi-Esan’s commitment, integrity, hard work, and passion for excellence, which earned her the fellowship.
The Keynote Speaker, Otunba Olufemi Oyawale, highlighted the role of public relations in a competitive world, and called for better motivation and involvement of government public relations officers in decision-making processes.
