Eze Ndigbo honoured as peace ambassador

  • Receives UN diplomatic passport, others

The Eze Ndigbo of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Nicholas Njoku, has promised to give more to philanthropy and humanity because that is the sole aim of man.

He spoke at his palace when he was presented with the ‘Face of Peace and Integrity Advocates Award’, his diplomatic passport and car plate number.

Eze Njoku said: “Thank God who made this possible. I know this is a call to greater responsibilities, and so I call on God to help me. I know people look up to me so I must guide myself, conduct, and utterances, as well as create more time for the challenges ahead.

“The plan forward is to be more God fearing, if you work with knowledge you will be limited but working with Lord makes you unlimited. I need to be more humble to the community and prepare myself to bear their burden.

“One major plan is to continue to make peace among all tribes in my community. We’ve been doing that before now, but we must work harder to ensure it lasts because there can be no progress without peace. We will continue to preach peace by saying the truth.”

State Director of the International Association of Great Peace Ambassadors, Bishop Ike Nkemakolam, noted that Eze Njoku was recognised for his great efforts at making peace and philanthropy everywhere he found himself.

He said: “We are here to honor Ambassador Eze, Nicholas Njoku and to deliver his international diplomatic passport and car plate number which is worth celebrating.

“This award is at the prompting of the United Nations in recognition of his selfless work, strong ambition and desire to touch humanity selflessly. He has been doing that and we decided to bestow him the honour today. We hope he will continue to do good always.”

A peace ambassador of the United Nations and member of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), an affiliate body of the United Nations, Dr. Emmanuel Ebuk, noted: “You can’t have progress without peace, likewise you can’t have prosperity without peace. Ambassador Nicholas is a man that has impacted his society positively and we are using today’s gathering to encourage people to embrace peace.

“The awardee is somebody who has dedicated his life to the eradication of hunger and poverty. He has helped so many homeless people, destitutes, widows and orphans. And so this gathering is a celebration of a man who has dedicated his life and time to the eradication of hunger and poverty in his environment.

“Our main motto at the IAWPA is peace. For you to become a member, you must promote peace, preach eradication of poverty, and works towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of which Nigeria is a signatory.

“The country is trying its best, but we must individually chose to play our part by sharing love and care to those in need.”

The Eze Ndigbo of Ikeja, Uche Dimgba, praised the UN for honouring one of them as its ambassador. He said the union of Eze would support Njoku to succeed in his mission because that is the major aim of their union as well.

That is part of the jobs of Ndi Eze, which is to ensure we support whoever we can. We have been doing this and we will continue to do so, touching lives positively.

“We are happy for Eze Njoku because now he can travel anywhere to spread goodness. We ask God to give him more strength to continue doing good things for Nigeria and the world in general.

“I will also advise my colleagues to find peace. Those fighting within themselves should find a way to make peace and manage their domain.”
