He added that the officers were deployed across the 16 local government areas, with special attention given to high-risk areas with frequent criminal activities.

Shola urged Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Officers to conduct continuous patrols and ensure intensive deployment to guarantee smooth and safer celebrations.
He also warned miscreants, vandals and other potential mischief-makers to stay away.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State will begin a special patrol from tomorrow till June 21 to ensure an accident-free celebration.

Roads to be patrolled include the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; Benin-Ore Expressway; Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Road; Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway; Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway and Ota-Idiroko road, among others.

Sector Commander Anthony Uga said the Corps would deploy over 900 personnel for the exercise to ensure sanity on the highway.

According to him, both the Regular and Special Marshals have been mobilised to make the exercise a success, while logistics like patrol vehicles, ambulances and towing vehicles, among others, have also been deployed for emergency cases.

He added: “We appeal to motorists to cooperate with FRSC personnel and other sister agencies to control traffic gridlocks so they can get to their destinations safely.

“They should also obey extant traffic rules and regulations to prevent avoidable crashes during the festivities.”
