By Oyebola Owolabi

The Alapere pedestrian bridge on the Third Axial Road, Lagos State, was yesterday reopened for public use.

Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, said Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the directive to open the bridge because the government places premium on the safety of lives.

Daramola hailed the governor, describing the gesture as responsive and timely. He also urged the people to appropriate the gesture.

Meanwhile, pedestrians, road users and residents have applauded the government for being proactive in always ensuring the safety of lives.

The bridge, built over 11 years ago, collapsed following an impact by a container-laden truck.
